This sucker is going in just down the street from my office tower.

Unfortunately the above image, as with all ‘artistic conceptions’ does little to give the viewer a sense of surrounding. I apologize for the awful photo, as the windows only open slightly, requiring creative hand work to get a shot without glass glare. This shot is taken from behind the building. Construction on the third tower is slated for 2008.

Another Nanjing monster.

The Greenland Plaza Tower will be the tallest building in Jiangsu province, topping off at 433m. It’s being built across from my apartment. To give you an idea of the scale of this project, the work on the foundation began over a year ago, and any structure as yet to emerge above ground level. I’ve watched construction at this site since it began and have taken the occassional peek through the advertising billboards surrounding the area to discover what can only be described as a mini-open pit mine.

Skyscrapercity.com
has a good page of Chinese skyscrapers, both completed and proposed.

It’s said that over 50% of the world’s high rise cranes operate in China, engaged in what can only be described as the largest construction frenzy in recent history.
