Idiot

On my way home last night I ran into some foreign students/teachers I know…apparently there was to be some drinking that evening. Initially, I wasn’t going to go, as I had a 8am class to teach in the morning, however, stupidity always wins in the end.

“You know man, you’ve done this type of thing before…staying up late/drinking at then making the 8am lecture…there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to do it again”. Besides, I only had a grammar lesson…not too difficult.

I completely missed both my morning classes.

It’s always the smallest things that get you in trouble…for me it was the crappy battery in my alarm clock which didn’t go off. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it sounds very cliche, “Yeah dude, your alarm clock…I’ve heard that one before…”
but honestly, that was the case. I woke up about 8:45am, still a little woozy. I’m not really sure when I made it back home, but it was later than I’d ever been out before.

It is hard to describe the absolute embarrassment of this whole debacle. I may only be a simple ESL clone, but I am suppose to be professional. What I did this morning…and last night…wasn’t. The issue that upset me the most was the fact that my boss was more concerned about my safety than the idea that I missed work. I should be fired. I would be fired if this was any other country. I want to be punished, but I don’t think that is going to happen.

I don’t think I’ll be making anymore weekday excursions.
